How a Russian Blue Became a Blue Cat Talisman

In Honor of Leyol, my fur baby

I’ve been creating these cats lately. As many know, my beautiful fur baby Leah, or Leyol, how we called her passed at the end of November.

Leyol was very connected to me and from day one she knew I would protect her. We experienced many adventures together since her early days when my kids and I were all together, through each of my daughters leaving home and the whole road trip to settle in a different state with Sebastian, my son, and I. That one was BIG for all!

Loving Paws

Every morning as I turned around and opened my eyes, the first thing I would receive was pure love. She would jump on me, put her head under my chin and her paws around my neck and fill my heart. She would come back often during the day to bring more of those loving hugs. When I was sick, she knew what to do. She healed me and protected me from any energies around that didn’t feel good. I observed her a lot and realized how much she could feel and see, we humans are unable to. Cats are true magic!!!

The Night She Visited in Spirit

I was away on a trip before she passed. She waited for me and a couple days after I was back she passed. It was a very sad moment here. I could feel her around all the time…I still do often after several months, like today! She was in my room wondering around on the carpet. A month after she passed she came to visit one night, I felt her jump on my bed. It was such a familiar sensation. Then I turned over and there she was, a shadow with her exact shape curled next to me where she always did during her last years. It startled me a little bit but then I felt it was such a gift from her.

Grief

I was grieving her and eventhough I could often feel her energy, her physical presence was missed very much. Inspired by that love for her and in her honor, I sat one day, took some clay and just started creating these cats… I had been wanting for years to bring the Blue Cat to life. She inspired me to do so and, thus, Saphire!

Saphire, as I called her, became not just a handmade object but a personal talisman made specifically for someone, as I started creating these for others by order. Each cat is channeled individually for the person receiving it and the specific design with golden and metallic accents as well as, if wanted, stones chosen intuitively or glass elements placed with intention.

I truly enjoy creating each one and want to create more, each one with it’s own magic!
